St. Louis Top Ten Quiz
The teams from Dallas did a great job representing our district last Friday and Saturday at the St. Louis Top Ten Invitational Quiz. There were 222 kids on 45 teams representing 25 districts competing and there were some good teams there. We drove a long ways, but we competed with teams from Colorado, Michigan, Florida, Ohio, etc. This is a popular event!
Dallas Blue (Katherine Carter, Zach Nelson, Tella Cummins, Thomas Carter, and Colton Bechtold) had a 5-3 record in their pool on Friday night, which put them into the Gold division on Saturday. The completion was tougher in that division as their 2-7 record on Saturday showed, but nonetheless, the team placed 19th overall for the tournament. To my knowledge, the highest the Dallas B team had previously placed was 31st.
Dallas Silver (Elsie Cummins, Adelaide Cummins, Kelsey Woods, Michael Murray, and Caleb Bechtold) was 7-1 on Friday night, putting them into the Championship division on Saturday. They finished the tournament with a 5-4 record on Saturday, which put them into a tie with Kansas City B. Since KC beat Dallas head-to-head, they won the tie-breaker. However, the third place finish is the highest that Dallas has had in quite some time!
